i didn't have to work today.
i got up the nerve to call in and ask for the day off.
at first i said i'd come in for the beginning, then i told her thanks because last night i was so sick and i felt bad i was making other people sick, she said i could just take the day off.
when i thought about it, it's better this way, it would have meant almost 2 hours of driving.

the downside is, i'm still sick.

i've come to decide that i'm a drama magnet.
last night 2 people got in a big fight while some of us were waiting to be let back inside.
when they went to opposite corners, so to speak, there was nothing for us to do but stand there uncomfortable and stare straight ahead, into the light, having our retina's burned.

i got to leave early, i don't know how early, because i wasn't there.
as i mentioned before, i was so sick.
driving home sucked, but i got here before i collapsed, so that was good.

took nyquil, slept 7 hours or so, came downstairs, lay huddled on the couch for 2 hours, called in to work, slept another 5-6 hours.
the side i slept on is really sore right now.
i think i'll go lie on the couch facing the other way.

i don't have to go to class today, which is good, cause i'd be late now.
i was starting to feel better, but now after having worked the past 2 nights, i woke up feeling sick today.
    i'm going to work anyway.
maybe i should call in and ask for friday off, but i probably won't.

last night i had to work with the girl my boss called me about.
the other guy i was talking to was there too.
i found out tuesday that he got a phone call too.
    fun fun fun.

she wasn't my supervisor last night or anything, but she kept openly criticizing me in front of all the customers and stuff.
SHE was getting in the way, wasting time, ignoring people, doing all kinds of stuff.
basically the same stuff she kept criticizing me for.
i just didn't say anything, cause it's not my job to point out her poor job performance.
anyway, she had her panties in a bunch about something, i tried to get a heads up, cause, i don't want another phone call this week. well, next week either, but especially this week.

    nyquil is scary stuff.
i wanted something on saturday night, but my mom gave everything except some non-drowsy stuff to my sister.
i think i said "what, no nyquil?", because sunday afternoon i got handed a box of nyquil and a box of dayquil.
I 2 nyquil at around 7 on Sunday night as a hint to my aunt and grandma to leave.
Fell alseep, woke up a few minutes in to the sopranos, went upstairs, found i wasn't tired, and my tv wasn't working, so i slept in my sister's room. (note to self: wash and change sheets before she comes home)
then i fell alseep again, woke up and saw 2 skits on snl, went back to sleep, woke up at 3am, took 1 more nyquil, slept until just before 10am the next morning.
the scary part about nyquil is, you wake up, and your body feels heavy, and you start moving, and your heart starts racing, yet your instinct is to sleep.
well, let me just end with, having a cold sucks, and i have to wrap this up so i can go to work...
ok, one more thing, sunday was will's birthday and jenny forgot.
at least, i think i forgot it.
i might have talked to him on sunday and just not mention his birthday, said random shit, i don't remember.
or maybe i was online, and saw him, and didn't say anything.
and i think i talked to him on saturday or friday night.
i definitely did on thursday night, but i was being all self-involved and dominating the conversation.
anyway, i forgot, and i feel bad.
also, this is one more notch in the "not a nice person" column, for those of us keeping score...

probably a pretty good time to point out that, "him" and "her" are not always the same people.
"me" is pretty much always me though ;)

Him [6:24 PM]: I still try to figure out why I have no energy after sitting at a desk for eight hours
Me [6:25 PM]: my mom is advising my dad not to try to make jokes if he wants to get a job
Me [6:26 PM]: my neck was hurting me yesterday, i've decided it's from looking down so much to type
Him [6:26 PM]: uhoh, is he being too casual?
Him [6:26 PM]: my neck bothers me all the time at work
Me [6:26 PM]: so i got rid of one pillow, so it's not in the same position when i sleep, ahhh
Me [6:26 PM]: lol, no, he' s just not funny!
Him [6:26 PM]: lol, I see
Him [6:27 PM]: I was told not to use two pillows
Me [6:27 PM]: ok, i just changed the template of my site, that took pretty much all day.
Me [6:28 PM]: there's one part that isn't working, but i think i can live with that ;)
Him [6:28 PM]: ooh, I haven't been for a while.. how much have you changed?
Me [6:28 PM]: hehehe, you won't recognize it ;)
Me [6:28 PM]: contents the same though.
Him [6:29 PM]: no new postings?
Me [6:30 PM]: you gotta reload
Me [6:30 PM]: is it brown?
Me [6:31 PM]: if it's not brown, you're not up to date ;)
Him [6:31 PM]: I don't know, not there yet :) hang on
Me [6:31 PM]: lol, yeah, there's new stuff then ;)
Him [6:31 PM]: okay, yeah, it's different all right
Him [6:35 PM]: is this the supervisor causing more problems at work??
    Me [6:35 PM]: oy
Me [6:35 PM]: lemme see if i wrote about it...
Him [6:35 PM]: tell me to hush if you want LOL
Me [6:36 PM]: yeah, there it is on thursday ;)
we were all talking about her on tuesday, and our supervisor, who doesn't like her either, was writing up her paperwork and thought she'd include that people on her crew were complaining about her, probably because she thought that'd be helpful
Me [6:37 PM]: so when i was buying a movie ticket yesterday, my boss called and asked what i said about her on tuesday!
Him [6:37 PM]: yikes.. have you gotten a response out now?
    Me [6:39 PM]: about?
Him [6:40 PM]: to your boss on the supervisor
Me [6:44 PM]: oh, i just mentioned that i told someone that she went and looked at my time sheet to find my last name, and then came up from behind me and told me that i don't really make a good jenny, but i look like my last name, and then she smiled at me, with her poor
Me [6:44 PM]: dental hygiene teeth
Me [6:44 PM]: but, ya know, i left out the comment on her teeth
Me [6:44 PM]: but when she smiled, she just stood there forever
Me [6:45 PM]: basically she was telling me that we're not supposed to gossip at work.
Me [6:45 PM]: i thought she was calling about the email i had to send, which was about an audience member.
    Him [6:45 PM]: sheesh
Me [6:46 PM]: which is why i'm glad i'm not working tonight, after tuesday i wanted to lay low for awhile.
Him [6:46 PM]: I can imagine... but that's kinda sucky that they pump you for info like that, too, and set that up
Me [6:47 PM]: well, it might be that my boss wants reasons to get rid of her as much as anyone, she's good at faking you out though.
Me [6:47 PM]: but still, i'm not going to have my name showing up on say, half the complaints against this girl...
Him [6:47 PM]: that could be... if this person is universally unpopular, surely the bosses have a sense of that
Him [6:49 PM]: you've made it to pg-13, congratulations (g)
Me [6:49 PM]: wow, you're going way back
Him [6:50 PM]: I didn't realize it had been that long. You didn't post anything for quite a while
    Me [6:51 PM]: yeah
Me [6:51 PM]: sometimes i hold posts too
Him [6:52 PM]: I think this quiz is for teenagers LOL
Him [6:53 PM]: I made it to R but only by being a little silly (g)
Me [6:53 PM]: i don't even remember it
    Him [6:53 PM]: heeeee
Me [6:54 PM]: i'm about to make the little thing that says "posted by jenny on..." smaller and blue
Him [6:54 PM]: so it's not so obvious?
    Me [6:55 PM]: basically
Me [6:55 PM]: and, more blue
Him [6:55 PM]: o/~ blue, blue, my world is blue oo/~
Me [6:56 PM]: ok, i think after dinner i'm gonna make the dates and titles in the brown bars blue too
Him [6:56 PM]: there ya go :)
Me [6:56 PM]: but, like i said, after dinner ;)
Him [6:56 PM]: lolol, no hurry

Well, I came up with a layout I like enough to keep for awhile.
    Light blue and brown, yeah!
I added the light yellow cause it looks better than white...
    Notice I didn't say good.
Well, I like it, but then again, I've only looked at it on this computer with this browser.
Next task is making the archive work...

my boss called today while i was in line at the movies.
she didn't want to talk about the email, she wanted to talk about something my supervisor wrote in her paperwork.
it was that people were saying things about the person i complained about in my interview and she said she wanted to give me a chance to tell her about some specific problem i was having with her.

    that was weird and awkward.
so yesterday was like the day that jenny the sub-standard employee was made to feel uncomfortable by anyone who got near her.
    nice, eh?
btw, saw white oleander, it was good, but not as good as everyone makes it out to be.
what happened to stephen root, he was in the trailer...
    his voice is in it...
nest i'm going to try to see bowling for columbine, hehe, looks funny.

changed the template for this blog, cause i had changed the other one, and it wouldn't load any more.
i'm not really a fan of the green, and i can't figure out where blogger put the image files, but i know they're not showing up.
when i get my computer fixed, i'll at least get the silly bracket images up (not that i'm a fan of those either).
then i'm going make a template that i actually like, and it probably won't be green!
oh, and i'm going to try to remember which directory i stuck that menu frame in and get rid of it, it wasn't part of the template, i made it to look like the old template, and now since i'm using one of those manual ftp things on my parent's computer, i'm finding that it's easy to put new things on, not so easy to get things off and fix them...
maybe i'll even figure out the archive problem.
so i say, give me until halloween and this site'll be looking spiffy...
ok, give me until nov. 1st, i'll do it all on halloween night!

yesterday i was asked to write out a statement about what happened, i started, but i knew it was going to be long, and i was still working at the time, and that meant i was walking and filling things out. i didn't want anyone to have to wait for me, so i said i'd email it last night. then the email account i wanted to send it from was down, and i was lazy all day today, so i'm doing it now.

i'm really annoyed that i have to sit here typing an account to someone that says this:
"Because she had previously touched me inappropriately
on two occasions, I made sure I kept my distance of at least 5 1/2
    feet."

    and this:
    "I said "When
there's no one at the rail signing anymore, I need to clear the
area." She turned to me and asked "You
want me to hop over and climb down there?" I said "No", at
which point she walked over, placed both of her hands around my
forearm, rubbed it up and down a few times and said "I was just
kidding." I told her very calmly, "If you touch me again I'll report
    you to production.""

    and this:
"I said "Try to understand, my job is to clear this audience." She said, "I understand", turned around, and called out to
this person again. I said "Ma'am", and she interrupted me and said,
"Report me to production then", shrugged, stood there for a few
more moments trying to get anyone's attention on the floor "

    and this:
"She asked me about the two previous occasions
and I told her that once she came up to me during a break in taping
and placed her hand on my thigh in 3 different places and patted
it, and another time she approached me from behind while waiting
for the shuttle and rubbed my lower back. I also told her that
when I was checking their tickets, her group of friends surrounded
me and started yelling "Don't touch her!" repeatedly. "

went out to dinner with asshole uncle on saturday night.
there were 10 people sitting at a long table.
i made sure i sat on the other end of table, but on the same side he was on.
at one point he asked my sister (sitting next to me) about school.
she answered him, but got tripped up on something, and i tried to help her (hey, i do go to the same school), and he jumps in "oh, we'll get to you in a minute."
then he turns to me and says "so jenny, now that you're finishing up your 7th year of college, give us a date, when exactly are you graduating and what exactly are you going to do?"
i refuse to acknowledge him, i just look at my mom (sitting across from me) and calmly say "i'm just starting my 6th year."
she relays this to him, he starts to say he knows better than i do, but then my mom interrupts and says "jenny has a job".
he asks what i do in his "can't-wait-to-hear-this-so-i-can-mock-you" tone.
she asks what my position/title is called, i tell her, she tells him, he asks what that is, she starts to tell him, and he turns away and starts talking to his friend. (a friend i've never met, but now knows i've been in school for 7 years, so it's like he's my friend now too...)
then his niece tells him that was rude, that he asked a question and didn't even listen for the answer.
i tell her "it's ok, he's not interested in something he can't make fun of."
she says "ohmygod, that's sooo true."
then he turns on her and makes some biting comment, she having just turned 18 gets upset and outs her head down on the table and later gets up and leaves.
when we were leaving we passed a stationary store, he wanted my sister and i* to buy him a birthday card (it's today).
i told him sure, if he can tell me my sister's birthday.
of course he couldn't, so i saved a buck or two.

then the next night we had to go out to dinner with his mom.
i told her the whole story about what happened.
today she called my aunt, who called my mom to complain that i tattled on him.
i told my mom that now it won't seem like it came out of the blue the next time he's in town when i refuse to be in the same room with him.

i told my therapist about this, and she said it must make me angry because it makes her angry.
she asked me about all the energy it took not to react to him.
she's been talking about this a lot lately, it's a wonder i get out of bed in the morning some days, i suppose.

had my performance review this morning.
i feel it's safe to say that i got a bad review.
    that's because i got a bad review.

    it's not like i didn't know i wasn't doing so great, i just wasn't sure they'd really noticed.
i covered last night, and when i got there this morning, people had called to complain about me.

she said that it wasn't the first time, and she made it sound like it'd happened at least twice before.
for the sake of this blog entry, we'll say this was the 3rd complaint.

one i know about, hell, the people asked for my name, said they were going to complain.
i told my boss right when it happened how horrible to situation was.
she was talking on the phone to someone higher up saying "it was half their fault" (me and the other girl).
at the time i thought "my fault? no way!", but then later i realized that once i took it upon myself to help this other girl out, i should have stuck with her and not gone back to doing only my job, and that even though i think helping her out was the right thing to do, if i thought that i couldn't do both, i shouldn't have jumped in.

at some point in the review i said that to her.
also, when we talked about last night, i told her that the supervisor was saying she had to review me because i was new (although she actually didn't have to, because i was covering), so i decided i didn't want a paperwork job. they sent me outside with no information and told me to meet a bus of people that would be coming soon. 2 hours later they showed up, late. i didn't have any information, but i did know they were late. the leader asked me 3 questions, i told her twice that i didn't know.
my boss said that the way i said i don't know when i was telling the story was rude

what could i say except "point taken?"

we talked about it, she showed me other ways of saying "i don't know".
they really want you to be peppy and fake any time your mouth is moving.
i told her that i would consider that fake, but i'll keep in mind that other people might want fake.

afterwards i got a uniform, so maybe it wasn't all bad.
then again, they're really short-handed right now.

oh, the final thing was, she asked if i wanted to report any of my supervisors.
    i said no.
she asked if i was sure.
    i said no.
    she said it was confidential...
    the flood gates opened.

i only complained about the one from the night before.
i've covered a lot on her crews lately, and she's a pill (to put it as nicely as possible).
i didn't complain about anyone else, i said i liked them all, but i don't think i stressed that point enough.

then she asked about other co-workers.
    i said no.
she asked if i was sure...
    i spilled.

this was one of my more pathetic moments.

all i ended up saying was this one thing about this one guy that i really don't like.
i left out all the petty stuff, cause, i mean, i'm sure these people can say the same petty stuff about me.

anyway, i wish i had said nicer things about people instead of just bad things about only 2 people.

then, she had me sign my name next to what i said, grrr.

anyway, i'm covering again tonight, so i get to go drive through traffic now!

also, my boss called today and said they need me to come in to go over my 60 day performance evaluation...
it's been more than 60 days, doesn't that mean they have to fire me for cause now?
i called her back when i should have been in class, cause i was waiting for almost 15 minutes trying to drive past a crosswalk.
there's twice as many students on campus and 4 times as many cars this year...
then, when i finally get to make my right turn, this chick just steps right out from between the lineup of cars going to other way just as i was speeding out of my turn...
she was walking into opposing traffic looking behind her all cool and casual like she was talking to someone!
i almost had a heart attack when i realize i was going to hit her.
fortunately (for me) she jumped back at the right second, cause my brakes weren't gonna stop in time to miss her.
i say fortunately for me, cause i don't want to hit someone, but her dumbass has it coming some day doing stupid shit like that.
anyway, i told my boss i had to come in on wednesday, cause it's the only day/time she offered that i don't have class.
i called her back on the way home, since the freeway was a parking lot anyways.
i even sent a text message to the ex about his little baseball team, cause, like i said, parking lot.
anyway, while on the phone with my boss my supervisor was relaying a message about these people who show up every week.
they're a pain, they don't really follow the rules, cause they're always there, so they know that there are limits to what we can do, grrr, hate people like that.
ANYWAY... one of them kept touching me on tuesday...
ya know, in that not-techincally-inappropriate-but-still-makes-you-feel-icky kind of way.
i really hope she has taken care of it, it'd be nice to think that i can feel comfortable in my working environment, ya know?

in my mom's office right now...
she was on the phone hassling the housing people because they were cleaning mold off my sister's ceiling and dripped bleach on her comforter...
this of course requires 12-15 angry phone calls while at work...
anyway, this woman came in to ask about school bus companies she can work for (don't ask, but they give out this kind of information here) so i start using their high-speed access (heee!) to look it up.
when she was leaving she said she could tell we were jewish, she said not really my mom, but i look sefardic, said i have the big eyebrows and curly hair...
