I intended to join a gym on Saturday, only to discover that they were open half day and I was too late. Also, they're closed on Sundays. I think Sunday would be the perfect day for me to go too. Still, this morning my mom took me and we signed everything. I did half of their 30-minute workout. I thought it was supposed to be every other day, but when I left she said, "see you tomorrow." I guess now I have to wash my workout clothes.
I made it a point to get to school hours early today so that I could go see the Dean and my TA, whose office hours are 2 hours before class. Well, I walk into the Student Affair's office at 11:07 and am promptly directed to a sign that says they now only see walk-in students from 8am-11am. That's totally insane. This is a college campus, no students are going to get up that early. Even if they have a 9am class they're not going to go to the office before class. For one thing it means waking up earlier, and the other is that you don't know how long the line will be, and you could be late to class. Plus, they don't see students on Wednesdays at all, so this is my only chance really before the deadline.
I told the girl that I needed the Dean's signature and asked if I should make an appointment. She said if that's all it is her assistant will just sign it. It turns out that they just changed Deans this week and this one had no idea who I was. So her assistant just signed it without looking at my name or writing anything down. Score.
Registering took for-ev-er. A big issue on Monday was that I didn't know my new student id (they dropped socials for a number that just codes the social and I never bothered to learn it). Anyway, while I was standing there I discovered something. If you go to late-add a class they'll ask you, "have you been attending every class session?" If you say yes, they add you. If you say no, or you missed one they'll give you a form and tell you to get it filled out by the professor. So if you lie, you'll be added to the class no hassle. How immensely lame. Whatever, I got my class.
I bought a parking permit and discovered that I have to get to school at least a half hour early because that's how long it takes to get a shuttle over to campus. They've closed all the on campus lots for construction. Also, half the roads and almost every walkway is blocked off. The city is also doing construction just off campus. I had to take over a mile detour to get to me sister's apartment 2 1/2 blocks away. Being on the shuttle reminded me of work, and that sucked.
Plus, I hate everyone in my class. Most of them are idiots. People say there are no stupid questions, but I disagree. The professor handed on a list of battles we'd be talking about, commanders for each side, casualties, etc. Some girl kept raising her hand to ask who was for what side over and over again. She very rudely told the TA that her lecture was unclear and that she should always say which side someone was on. Look at the damn piece of paper sitting on your desk! That's why she gave it to you, dumbass. Or you know, do the reading. And, most of what she said was a grammatical nightmare. That just furthered my annoyance. Plus there's that one know-it-all person (girl) who always insists on showing that she doesn't know anything at all. I wish it wasn't always a girl.
Finally, it was over 100 degrees there. Pretty much the only good part of being there today was that I went to McDonald's and got a McDonald's anniversary beanie in a happy meal. I want to go back and get the Mayor McCheese one, because Mayor McCheese rocks.
Afterwards I had to come home because my therapist rescheduled for 8:00 tonight to account for my class schedule. That just generally sucked because it meant I had to drive through the rush hour to make sure I'd be home in time. Blah. I made it, though.
